Goals and Objectives
Our goal is to partner with local communities in post-conflict situations that are looking to rebuild their lives. Peace, education, and livelihood are the three determining factors that address and provide a sustainable framework for restoration. We work alongside women in conflict areas who are widowed, internally displaced, and heads of families that have survived the impact of conflict.
Please donate to our Global Peace Works’ ongoing response unit for emergency relief.
Nigeria in Crisis
Nigeria has been experiencing a humanitarian crisis for the past 10 years as a result of the displacement of families due to the Boko Haram insurgency. This crisis has aggravated an already fragile national condition by increasing the levels of extreme poverty among the poor and heightening insecurity brought on by armed conflict. The disregard for human lives in exchange for economic opportunities is becoming common practice. For the past 5 years, Global Peace Works has been working in Nigeria in different peacebuilding capacities through interfaith dialogue, conflict resolution, and entrepreneurial initiatives that come alongside the most vulnerable in society, women, and children. Women at Work, our flagship Nigerian initiative, is focused on training and empowering women to provide for their families and make a difference in their communities.
Afghan Refugee Relocation
As the U.S. troops pulled out of Afghanistan, a nation was thrown into turmoil. For decades, Afghan interpreters collaborated with U.S. forces with the hope of improving communications and the establishment of a better Afghanistan. GPW is partnering with local organizations and congregations in the Washington, D.C. area to provide short-term sponsorship through housing and meals as the families of Afghan interpreters arrive in the U.S. As we have witnessed in the media, the needs of these families could not be more immediate. For this reason, GPW is accepting monetary donations to help meet their basic needs (shelter, meals, clothing, toiletries, etc.).
